XSection Number

The Number command applies a logical fiber number count to a fiber sheath in the OpenComms model.

Build Numbered Fiber Sequence

  1. From the Modify/Delete section of the Fiber Tab select the XSection Segment command in the dropdown:

  2. Select a fiber segment on the map.
  3. The Logical Order Edit dialog box opens.

  4. Highlight each fiber and assign it a unique number. This number displays in the Seq column.
  5. Choose one of the options available from the pull-down menu: Do Not Ripple, Ripple (No Overwrite), Ripple (Overwrite). Do Not Ripple: fiber sequence is only applied to the selected fiber segment. Ripple (No Overwrite): fiber sequence is rippled through the network only for segments without sequence. Ripple (Overwrite): fiber sequence is rippled through the network.
  6. Click Apply to save the modification.
Note: From the OpenComms dialog box, select File>OpenComms Settings>OSP-Common > Settings and select Logical Fiber Numbers to make use of the logical number in X-Section Review, Manual Connections, Retain Order Splicing Report, etc.
